It is a two-storeyed stone building under an iron hipped roof whose eastern five-axis facade faces the coastline of building of river Melnichnaya on Gorky Street, the northern six-axis – to Raboche-Krestyanskaya Street. The plastered facades are finished by the wooden profiled wide cornice and the smooth frieze. The interfloor belt is designated by the profile, set-back on the blades between parts of the walls. The blades paneled in the top tier form the three-part partitioning of front facades coincident to internal planning: on the eastern facade the three-window ceremonial hall in the top tier is allocated. The windows of the top floor are framed with the simple platbands with the highly lifted pediment. The ground floor windows are low, with segmental ends, are closed by a sun blind and protected from above by segmental pediments.
The house of the merchant I. A. Eltyshev differs in traditional character of the composite concept on an image of the Siberian wooden house on a basement with the residential top floor of harmonious proportions on the squat ground (economic) floor and pronouncedly restrained use of classical forms in external decoration.
It is included into the ensemble of the historical building of the coastline along river Melnichnaya.
